Fuente en Segures Spring

History of the spring Dr. Puigvert

History of the Spring and the contribution of Dr. Puigvert

Dr. Vicente Peset Cervera was the first chemical analyst of the waters of Benassal.

From the Duke of Vendôme, who in the mid-18th century ordered a road to be opened to Fuente En Segures to allow his carriage through, to the popularisation of its mineral-medicinal properties by the renowned Dr. Puigvert, a urology specialist, who publicised the benefits of Agua de Benassal.
More than a century ago, this liquid pleasure sprang from nature itself. Even today, we can afford the luxury of having Agua de Benassal on our table, adding that touch of unmatched distinction and elegance. Thousands of summer visitors come each year to the Fuente En Segures spring to benefit from its exceptional properties.

The natural water filtration process

The rock’s natural filtration provides unique properties to the water

Agua de Benassal is water that comes from a pure spring that rises in the mountains of the Alt Maestrat region in Castellón. The water comes from rainfall and snowfall over a natural area located at 900 metres above sea level.

The filtration process is carried out by the different materials deposited in the substrates through which the water passes slowly and steadily under stable conditions. Each substrate leaves its mark on the composition, and the final result is a unique formula that has been declared mineral-medicinal since 1928, that is, with therapeutic properties.
